WEIR Group, the engineering firm, has made a "substantial" offer for an Australian company, thought to be in excess of GBP 250m, as chief executive Mark Selway steps up his bid to transform the business.
The company declined to comment yesterday after a City source revealed to Scotland on Sunday that Weir had been knocked back but was hoping to re-open talks with the Australian firm.
