THE post-Christmas and New Year good cheer which saw the FTSE 100 rally came crashing to a halt this week as the market sobered up with economic fears in the UK and America returning to haunt stocks.
The Footsie secured a six-day rebound by Tuesday, but wiped out much of the gains throughout the remainder of the week. The half- point cut in UK interest rates was lower than some had hoped, while poor US jobs data on Friday combined to see the FTSE 100 end the week down 2.5 per cent at 4448.5.See the full content of this document
