JIM Wallace, the deputy first minister, flew to the US yesterday to meet executives from some of Scotland's top inward investors as new job fears gather over Silicon Glen.

The enterprise minister's tour includes a meeting with Scott McNealy, the chairman and chief executive of Sun Microsystems, which is understood to be axing 80 jobs at its server plant in Linlithgow.
