VODAFONE, the world's biggest mobile phone company, is set to beat consensus forecasts by announcing annual profits of at least GBP 10.1bn this week when it unveils annual results.

Strong European mobile results so far this season indicate the market may have under-estimated Vodafone's performance. Analysts will look to its operations in Japan where average revenue per user is believed to have fallen.
