Summary
RANGERS manager Walter Smith has refused to rule out a possible recall for Daniel Cousin in Wednesday's UEFA Cup encounter at home to Panathinaikos. The Gabon international is at the centre of a protracted transfer wrangle after Rangers accepted GBP 3m from Fulham for him three weeks ago. FIFA have yet to rule on whether the striker will be granted a special dispensation to allow the deal to go through, Cousin having already turned out for two clubs - Lens and Rangers - the maximum for any player in a season.
Fulham have told Rangers that the Africa Cup of Nations, which ends today, has delayed a decision being reached. If the situation remains unchanged by Wednesday, or if Cousin's move is blocked, it is understood he will feature in an Ibrox squad that will be minus the suspended Jean Claude Darcheville. Smith admitted he may look to address a situation that sees the 31-year-old forward that Rangers bought for GBP 1.2m in August without a game in almost a month.See the full content of this document
