MOST anglers have favourite spots to which they return time and again. There is something deeply reassuring about retracing long- trodden paths and experiencing haunts anew, especially when returning to scenes of former glory.

One happy hunting ground close to my heart lies in the hills above Kilmelford in Argyll, 12 miles or so down the A816 from Oban. Between Cruach an Nid (289m) and south to Barr Kilmhealaird (236m) lie a string of fine lochs nestling in the slopes that rise up to either side of stunning Gleann Mor.
