GEOFF Ellis's head office, in a down-at-heel Glasgow terrace, is not exactly bristling with the spirit of enterprise. No polished marble and potted plants here. In the ramshackle entrance hall an unloved three-seater awaits visitors who'll share the space under the once-grand turning staircase with a 5ft pile of discarded files. It is definitely more rock'n'roll than corporate opulence.

It was another record year for the speed of ticket sales, a world record, no less. Or maybe a joint world record. "It's difficult to say," says Ellis, correcting himself. "The first tranche sold within 40 minutes, the whole lot in six or seven hours. But Glastonbury also did well. They may have been the fastest."
