Summary


Kenny Miller has two hat-tricks and four doubles to his name this season, 22 goals in all for his club, a record haul without which Rangers would be in terrible bother in the SPL. On the face of it, he is critical to their championship challenge and their hopes of winning the Scottish Cup, which for them begins tomorrow with the arrival of Kilmarnock to Ibrox. Even in that one head-to-head with the Ayrshire club, Miller's effectiveness can be seen. The last time they met, in November, the little striker got a hat-trick. In his last eight games against Killie, Miller has scored eight times.

You might say that he is a must-keep, despite the financial strains at Ibrox. And yet the club are prepared to wave him off to Birmingham or Turkey or Marseille or wherever else will have him. Ultimately, it's Miller's decision whether to stay or to go, but in seeking to do a deal with Alex McLeish on Thursday night, Rangers made their position clear. If Miller wants to depart then there isn't a soul at Ibrox who is going to try to stop him.
