Michael Frayn's Copenhagen has to be one of the most unapologetically intellectual plays I have ever seen. The imagined transcript of what was said when atom experts, Danish scientist Niels Bohr (exuberantly played by Tom Mannion) and German physicist Werner Heisenberg, met in the city in 1941, was brought to life with such sophistication and energy that it was impossible not to be thrilled. Tony Cownie's direction was neat and respectful of the explosive script, which questions what might have been had the pair's knowledge of nuclear power been fully explored.See the full content of this document
