IN THE days when the Scottish Football League was the only game in town and the SPL was just a rich man's fantasy, SFL secretary Peter Donald went to watch Dunfermline play Aberdeen in the second leg of the play-off matches which decided who would be in the following year's Premier League.
As he walked towards East End Park, some Aberdeen fans recognised the ever-avuncular figure of Donald and began to give him severe verbal abuse over the playoff system.
