Summary


THERE had been the fear among Rangers fans that Kenny Miller would not be able to fill the shooting boots of Kris Boyd when he departed for a fresh challenge in the summer. Now the Ibrox faithful are unwilling to countenance life without the man who has emerged from Boyd's shadow.

Boyd topped the Scottish Premier League scoring charts for the previous two seasons, his goals a major contributor in Rangers' title success, but life without him has not been as barren or tortured as many predicted. Where once people wondered how Rangers could replace him, they now exalt a player who has made a mockery of the argument Boyd's apologists used that strikers cannot combine a high workrate and healthy contribution to the team play, while also banging in the goals prolifically. Not only is Miller well on the way to the kind of goal tally Boyd would have been proud of in domestic football, he also carries the bigger threat in the games that tend to live longest in the mind. Which is what will count as the teams line up at Ibrox this afternoon.
