Summary

It's been a stressful week planning the move to the new house. So far we've booked tradesmen, planned and decided on a kitchen and bathroom (we've even gone so far as to agree on something we both like and ordered it), chosen floor and wall tiles, and discussed the need for a door at the top of the stairs, which is currently a wide open space just asking for little people like my daughter to customise as a personal slide. Doubtless great fun for her, less so for her panic-stricken mother.

I've even seen radiators I like, although my other half did point out the property already has radiators in place (obviously not the ones I would really like). And that getting the rewiring done, and the kitchen and bathroom in place, so that we can actually move in this year might just be something that should take priority over new radiators. I decided not to mention the great deal I'd seen on a gateleg table and matching chairs for the garden. They could easily be stored in the new shed and had really pretty seat cushions... Anyway, I've been online, in shops and rifling through magazines, as well as picking the brains of everyone I know who may have a contact or idea I could use in the new place. I am wearing out everyone around me with home improvement worries. Even my daughter retired to her dreaded buggy (not a place for 'big girls' who are all of two and a bit years old, according to her), exhausted, during a particularly onerous trip to B&Q. If I'm honest, there was more than a fleeting moment when I wanted to join her.
