SUZANNE O'CONNOR is used to getting funny looks when staff realise that she's the boss. "They always presume you're the pastry chef," she laughs. She was once, but since cutting her teeth at catering college in Dublin, she has risen through the ranks to the top.
The 29-year-old has cooked for Grammy Award parties in LA and been private chef to a host of celebrities on tour in Sydney, including Barbra Streisand, Macy Gray and Harry Connick Jr. Now, as head chef at Conran's Zinc Bar and Grill in Edinburgh, O'Connor dismisses the idea that all top cooks are as fiery as Gordon Ramsay.
