GILES Insurance, the independent commercial broker, has beaten off competition from international rivals to clinch a contract with Macdonald Hotels and Resorts.

The Ayrshire-based firm won the contest to handle Macdonald's business protection in Britain and Spain from incumbent broker Marsh & McLennan. Willis, AON and Alexander Forbes also bid for the business.
