Summary
T he first thing you notice about Kinloch Rannoch of an evening is the quiet. There are lots of places that seem entirely remote, that give the impression of bucolic isolation, but all too often if you listen closely you can detect the hum of faraway traffic. Not here. Almost an hour's drive off the A9, on a dead-end road to nowhere, there's absolutely no noise. Unless, of course, you count the cheeping of grouse, the splashing of salmon or the roar of stags as aural pollution.
If arriving in this beautiful corner of unspoilt Perthshire is a tonic for jaded bones, then stepping into the Dunalastair Hotel is like taking a step back in time.
