A YOUNG team picked largely from the Newcastle Falcons academy squad lifted the Ladies Centenary Cup at Melrose yesterday after beating Heriot's 28-17, scoring four tries to three in a nail- biting final. The Edinburgh club were trailing by just four points and pressing hard for the winning score when the Falcons flyer Ollie Phillips broke clear for the deciding score. It was only appropriate that the crucial touchdown should come from the best player on view yesterday.
Falcons struck the first blow in the final when Andrew Skeen opened the scoring early in the tie.
