Summary


THE last time, sunshine and snorkelling were the order of the day. When Prince Charles married Diana Spencer in 1981, the heir to the throne and his young wife spent their honeymoon on a glamorous Mediterranean cruise aboard the royal yacht Britannia.

Last night, amid scenes more reminiscent of winter, the Prince and his new wife touched down at Aberdeen airport at 7.58pm and were driven 60 miles west to Birkhall, on Royal Deeside. If the weather was chilly, the welcome was warm. The Prince and the Duchess of Rothesay, dressed in a cerise coat with Rothesay tartan trim, were piped into Scotland by the Grampian Police Band. Camilla was presented by airport staff with a bouquet of Scottish thistles.
