THE ranks of the missing grew ever more yesterday. And for the families and friends who were still congregating around the bomb sites across London, desperate to find news of their loved ones, the wait for answers seems likely to be long.

Forty-eight hours after the four blasts which had torn London apart, police revealed that they had still to identify a single body from the London bus or the three tube trains where at least 49 people died.
