The Royal Bank of Scotland boss will today lodge the much- anticipated consortium bid for LaSalle Bank which will be conditional on an offer for the whole of its Dutch parent, ABN Amro. Bank of America, which has already agreed to pay dollars 21bn for LaSalle, has until Friday to mount a higher bid.
