TO FLUSH or not to flush, that is the question. When people talk about water conservation, my inner cynic comes to the fore. But this is Scotland, the cynic says. We've got lochs and rivers galore, and let's not forget the persistent rain that makes this such a green and pleasant land. Do I really have to bother turning off the tap when I brush my teeth?
If you want your eco-conscience to be clear, the answer to that question is yes. In Scotland the average person uses 146 litres of water a day. A third of that is literally flushed down the toilet.
